HVAC systems there to improve the living conditions in your home. They not only regulate temperature and humidity, but also improve the quality of your indoor air, which is directly relate to your health. If you want to investigate purchasing the best new HVAC system for your specific needs, take a look at some of the options.
Split HVAC systems are very common heating and cooling systems. The main feature of split HVAC systems is that they consist of two or three separate equipment components. These include an outdoor or condensing unit, and indoor evaporator coil that works with the outdoor unit to transfer heat (and humidity), and a furnace for heating. Sometimes though, the outdoor unit can provide both if it is a heat-pump.
The outdoor unit comes in different types, starting with lower efficiencies that are single-stage. This means that they operate at just one capacity. A higher efficiency outdoor unit is called two-stage. This means that the unit will operate at full capacity only when that’s needed, but typically maintain temperature at the lower stage, saving on energy costs. The most efficient systems have variable compressors. These modulate up and down the capacity scale based on actual need. The evaporator coil – situated inside of the house – is designed to work with the type of system that you choose.
Heat comes from a furnace, that normally provides warmth by burning gas or heating up electric coils. If your outdoor unit is a heat-pump, it will also provide warmth and may be augmented by electric heat for especially cold days and nights. Furnaces typically have a fan (also called a blower) that circulate the proper amount of air through your ductwork for both your heating and cooling cycles.
Package systems have all of the components mentioned above but built into one “box”.
These typically come in single and two-stage variations, but not variable (yet). They are easy to service, and a good choice if your home was designed to accommodate them.
Ductless systems, also known as mini-split systems, are HVAC systems often used for room additions, garages, businesses of many types, hotel rooms, and multifamily homes. This system comprises an indoor and outdoor air handling unit that link with copper tubing, power, and control lines.
The ductless systems can be very, very efficient and are dedicated to specific areas. So, they only operate when that specific area needs heating or cooling. These systems are also most commonly “variable”, making them even more efficient.
To summarize, each system type has particular design applications and requirements, so it is very important to have a professional HVAC contractor help you determine which is the best choice for you (Think Environmental Air Systems)!
